The textiles shaping the future
Textiles and soft materials as intelligent, interactive and immersive interfaces
Car seat covers that use fabric-integrated sensors to detect the driver’s level of alertness. A jacket with a luminous, flashing back panel that makes cyclists more visible in traffic. A shirt capable of monitoring circulation and metabolic processes. Smart textiles open up an exciting range of applications and fascinating avenues for research.
In the Sustainable Smart Textiles Lab, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano’s Faculty of Design and Arts and Faculty of Engineering work together to push the innovative fusion of textiles and technology. In close collaboration with industry leaders and innovation centres, they develop and present sustainable smart textile prototypes. Their goal? Inspiration for a new generation of sustainable transformation in the textile sector and beyond.
