The Smart & Sustainable Manufacturing Competence Hub at NOI Techpark Bolzano helps manufacturing companies answer these questions. Together with the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and Fraunhofer Italia, we support you from the initial assessment through testing and validation to training, technology transfer and identifying suitable funding options.

Our focus is on artificial intelligence and related application areas, as well as AI-based technologies (e.g. Internet of Things, data hubs, 3D technologies and robotics). As part of the EDIH initiative, we offer a range of services to support, accelerate and optimise your company’s innovation process:
Understand where you stand: Initial consultation and S2MA
We start with a free consultation to explore how we can support your company. If useful, we take the analysis further and conduct a Smart & Sustainability Maturity Assessment (S2MA). Together, we take a close look at your production. How smart, sustainable and human-centred is it? Where is there potential for improvement? And which areas matter most to your company?
This gives us a solid starting point going into the Orientation workshop.
So, you know where you want to go, but you’re not sure how best to get there? In a joint workshop, we define the challenge, set priorities and map out the next step – whether that is a specific technology trial, targeted training or preparation for an R&D project.
A technology can look promising on paper. But will it work for your processes? With Test Before You Invest, you can trial and validate solutions before making a major investment – in the areas of automation, interconnected manufacturing processes, digital twins or energy and resource efficiency, among others. We connect you with the right partner labs and, depending on the project, suitable technology providers.
The test shows potential, and you want to take the solution further? We help you plan the next steps. Together, we explore suitable co-funding options for an R&D project. If needed, our R&D consultants support you along the way, and we can also bring additional project partners on board.
New technologies do more than change processes. It is just as important to make sure that the right knowledge reaches the people who work with them. We work together with the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and Fraunhofer Italia to deliver training courses and workshops tailored to your needs, allowing you to build and deepen your expertise in Smart & Sustainable Manufacturing.
