Good data starts with good sensors – whether you are tracking a production process, monitoring a field of crops or capturing a health signal. The Sensing Technologies Lab develops sensing solutions for real-world applications, combining custom-built, flexible and sustainable sensors with robust, commercially available electronics. The result: miniaturised, application-specific sensing solutions that reliably measure physical, chemical and biological parameters.
The lab supports the entire development chain, from sensor concept and design to system integration, fabrication and prototyping, and finally to characterisation and validation. Depending on the application and exploiting the core research portfolio of the group, the possibilities span flexible, biocompatible and resource-efficient sensor concepts and high-performance solutions based on established materials and technologies.
Application areas include industrial monitoring, environmental sensing, precision agriculture, as well as biomedical and food systems. The lab’s particular areas of expertise include integrating sensors into wearable interfaces, microfluidic systems and compact electronic readout platforms.
Through its interdisciplinary approach, the Sensing Technologies Lab bridges research and real-world application. It works with companies to turn ideas into functional sensor devices and robust prototypes – from initial brief through to application-oriented validation.
