From prototype to market-ready product, we work with you to develop anything from a module to a complete system. Our knowledge is yours, so you gain a team of experts.
We develop, test and certify heat pump systems.
Our laboratory tests systems that primarily use energy from renewable sources.
We study the heating and cooling performance of heat pumps and heat pump systems in buildings in both stationary and dynamic modes. We primarily test systems that obtain at least 50 per cent of the energy for heating, hot water and cooling from renewable sources. This is the case, for example, with systems that combine heat pumps, thermal solar collectors and photovoltaic systems.
A climate chamber that simulates outside temperatures from -10°C to 50°C.
The laboratory consists of a climate chamber measuring 10x4x4m, which can be divided into two smaller chambers. In this climate chamber, heat and cooling pumps (water to water and water to air) with a heating capacity of up to 400 kW can be tested or certified according to the EN 14511 and EN 14528 standards. In addition, air-to-air pumps with a heating capacity of up to 30 kW can also be tested. Furthermore, heat pump systems with a heat output of up to 400 kW can be tested under dynamic test conditions, making it possible to simulate almost completely real conditions with outside temperatures from -10°C to 50°C.
New products: from planning to testing to market entry
In addition to the heat pump certification service, the scientists at Eurac Research also support companies in developing new products – from the planning phase through simulations and tests to performance optimisation – guiding the product from concept to market entry.

Your advantage
The key tool
Our climate chamber simulates temperatures between -10°C and 50°C. The relative humidity in the test station ranges from 10 to 95 per cent.
Our services
We test individual modules as well as complete systems. This benefits you in the long run: we ensure quality and pass on our knowledge to independent contractors and tradespeople.
