Extending e-battery life with Witty

… 99%, 100% and, with that, Witty stops charging the phone battery. No, this isn’t a new battery-obsessed family member. It’s an innovative technology developed by the Rome- and Bolzano-based start-up Witty to extend the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries in electronic devices. Overcharging can cause irreversible damage to a battery and reduce its performance, but Witty cuts off the power once the battery is fully charged, thus preserving its health over time. The NOI start-up is also developing new software to optimise the charging of electric micro-mobility vehicles, such as e-bikes and e-scooters. The Witty app shows whether there is enough battery power remaining to complete a planned journey and indicates where charging points can be found along the way. This concept was one of the winners of the Assolombarda MCA4x4 competition and has been presented to Italian investors in Milan.
