The tools you need to identify diseases and pests in mountain agriculture
Abraham Mejia Aguilar - Eurac Research
This month, Software Developer’s Thursday shines a spotlight on innovative approaches to tackle the challenges facing mountain agriculture in South Tyrol.
Join Abraham Mejia Aguilar, Senior Researcher at the Center for Sensing Solutions at Eurac, as he presents a digital strategy approach to identify diseases and pests in mountain agriculture. This method uses open hardware and software technologies to detect, identify and eventually map the presence of diseases in three different experimental areas: apple orchards, vineyards and forestry.
The objective is to develop a non-invasive way to monitor plant diseases and deliver the information to farmers. How? By using web-based precision maps derived from machine learning system classification methods based on spectroscopy.
