South Tyrol has specific requirements for technologies which are closely associated with the nature of the area and any activities dependent thereon (for example vineyards, orchards, hydrology, forestry and the snow industry). Therefore, the task of the laboratory which is to be realised and funded by this programme is to conduct interdisciplinary and applied research activities. These activities will principally be in the areas where mechatronics, robotics and automation find their route into agriculture and forestry, especially in Alpine environments. The project is part of the technology field "Alpine Technologies" with natural interactions with the other strategic areas "Energy and Environment" and "Food Technologies", which are priority areas of Strategy S3 of the Autonomous Province of Bozen Bolzano.
