Inside Grist Core: The Open-Source Engine Behind a No-Code Tool
Daniele Gobbetti
What if a spreadsheet could think more like a database – without losing the simplicity that makes spreadsheets so useful?
In our October session, Daniele Gobbetti will take us under the hood of Grist Core, the open-source engine behind Grist. The platform combines the familiar flexibility of spreadsheets with relational data structures and Python-based formulas, making it possible to build powerful tools without developing a conventional application from scratch.
Grist Core is also part of La Suite Numérique and receives contributions from European public-sector organisations. This makes it an interesting example of how open-source software can support broader goals such as digital sovereignty, transparency and greater control over critical digital infrastructure.
Daniele will present real-world use cases and show how he uses Grist Core to organise and manage his own business. Along the way, we’ll explore what the platform can do, how its open-source foundations shape its development and where it fits between spreadsheets, databases and custom software.
Discover how open source and no-code tools can turn everyday data into flexible, tailored solutions.
