Knowledge Scout: From Talks and Slides to Smart Summaries

What if a thousand conference talks could be turned into a story anyone can understand?

In our July session, Peter Aichner will introduce Knowledge Scout – an open-source project designed to make massive amounts of content from conferences like FOSDEM accessible, searchable, and even conversational. Using a mix of web scraping, Speech-to-Text transformers, and text generation models, Knowledge Scout can extract and process everything from video recordings to PDFs and PowerPoints, transforming them into summaries that make sense even for non-technical users.

Peter will show how this tool can generate clear overviews for individual sessions and entire event tracks – in different languages and via a simple web interface. There’s even a chatbot to help users find what they’re looking for.
