Will the future of mobility be “on demand”? Against the backdrop of the MENTOR project, which focusses on promoting integrated and sustainable mobility in the Alpine region, we will explore the potential of on-demand services. What form can tailor-made mobility solutions take which make it easier and more efficient to travel within a region and which rely heavily on the integration of different means of public and private transport? The first part of the webinar will present the current pilot project in Merano and the previously completed project in Brig-Glis in Switzerland. There will also be an opportunity to share findings, expectations, and solutions and thus provide impulses for subsequent steps in the project.
Following on from this, we will be looking into the future so that we can jointly develop visions for future on-demand services, including self-driving vehicles. In this context, it will also be interesting to present the results of the first trial run of an autonomous driving system run by the i-Mobility Garage and Navya in Merano, which took place in November 2019. In addition, we will look at the current legal situation in Italy with regard to autonomous driving. The independent research institute Salzburg Research, coordinator of the Austrian research project Digibus, where self-driving shuttles are being tested in a typical Alpine environment, will provide an overview of the status of an international series of tests.
The event will be held in German and Italian (unfortunately without simultaneous translation). There is no charge for attending, but you will need to register by 27/04/2021.
